Wowza I loved this book so much. I think I read it in 24 hours? Love love love love love. Emily Henry = new fave comfort author.
Beach Read follows the stories of Augustus and January, two successful writers who are stuck with writers block writing their next books. They knew each other from college, but had lost touch until they find themselves coincidetnally living next to each other for the summer. In the end they decide to swap genres and see if they can each write a bestseller in the genre of the other. Obvs, romance FLOURISHES along the way.
This book was delightful. Exactly what I needed in the middle of my exam season to lose myself in a love story. The character development was lovely - I felt like I knew both really well and even loved the other characters we meet along the way. It was the classic frustrating miscommunication that leads to the happy ending. Also was some enjoyable heat!
As well as the romance, there were definitely some nice themes running through with confidence, self love and friendship. Beach Read definitely gave me Flatshare vibes, if you’re a Beth O’Leary fan. I neeeeed her new book People We Meet On Vacation as soon as it is released in paperback this month!
